Dear Candidates,
University of Warsaw offers an extraordinary opportunity to undertake Foundation Year, an intensive one-year preparatory course in English language aimed at secondary school graduates and university graduates wishing to improve their English language skills.
The aim of the program is to prepare international students for degree studies in English in a chosen field of social studies, humanities or science at the University of Warsaw.
The Foundation Year course provides learning programme aimed to reach B2 level of English command that is necessary for applying for degree studies taught in English at the University of Warsaw.
After successful completion of the Foundation Year course participants are accepted to the chosen degree programme. The application documents are assessed once, during a Foundation Year intake.
Participants of the Foundation Year course do not have the student status. Next academic year (2025/2026), after completing Foundation Year and being admitted to studies, they will be granted the student status and will obtain their student ID card.

Classes:
- 450 hours of English (4 times a week)
- 120 hours of Polish for beginners (2 times a week)
- Social Path module (outings and online activities)
- Seminar with field specialists (1 or 2 times a week) in case of fields with at least 5 participants.
The first semester focuses on English for academic and specific purposes. Social Path module helps our participants become acquainted with Polish culture, academic life, and the University facilities and surroundings. Polish classes are aimed to provide basic knowledge of Polish needed for everyday life.
In the second semester, in addition to English and Polish classes, specific degree courses run by field specialists are introduced, if a group of candidates applying for studies in the similar field counts at least 5 persons.
